Olivier Giroud has welcomed Chelsea's new arrivals in the summer transfer window, claiming fresh faces in the squad will serve as healthy competition.
Chelsea have already secured the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, with both players reinforcing the Blues' attack ahead of next season.
Frank Lampard's side are also thought to be keen on strengthening at left-back and in midfield, with a deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz moving closer.
football.london understands Chelsea are willing to meet Leverkusen's asking price for the Germany international, with the player himself keen on the move.
The new signings will theoretically provide stiffer competition for Giroud ahead of next campaign, but the World Cup winner claims the arrivals will just be extra motivation for the squad.
"I think it’s always nice to reinforce the team with very good signings," Giroud told Sky Sports ahead of Chelsea's trip to Liverpool.
"It has to be positive for every single player in the squad to step up and to give the best from ourselves to have fair competition.
"It’s good for the team, I take it very positively as extra motivation."
Giroud started and scored in Chelsea's 3-1 FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester United on Sunday, and appears to have cemented his place in Lampard's first choice XI ahead of Tammy Abraham.
"I just took the opportunity to give him back this confidence on the pitch," Giroud added.
"I just try to play my part and to finish the good job of the team."
Chelsea travel to Anfield on Wednesday, where they will face newly crowned champions Liverpool.
The Blues know a win would guarantee their place in the top four and with it, Champions League qualfication.
"They deserve this title, it’s crazy when you look at the table and the difference," Giroud said.
"But I think on one game we can match them.
"We definitely need three more points to secure a place in the Champions League, it’s going to be tough but we have good momentum so we want to keep it up."
