Olivia Newton-John reveals she went 'undercover' in hospital while learning to walk again after third cancer diagnosis

Olivia Newton-John has revealed that she went “undercover” in hospital while she was learning to walk again after her cancer diagnosis.

The Grease icon confessed to wearing a “beanie, glasses and a mask” when she was admitted to her own hospital facility, the Olivia Newton-John Wellness and Research Centre, last year after a cancerous tumour was found in her lower spine.

“Nobody knew I was there, so I was undercover boss in the hospital - on purpose. I was learning how to walk again,” she explained to ET.

“I was using a walker, so I’d wear a beanie and glasses and masks, so no one would know who I was.”

Newton-John told the publication that she hadn’t wanted to be spotted at the hospital because she didn’t want it to become public knowledge that she was an inpatient.

In January, the 70-year-old assured fans that she was “doing great” battling her third bout of cancer after erroneous reports claimed she had “weeks to live”.

Olivia Newton-John dismisses speculation over her health

It was reported in both Australia and the US that Newton-John’s health had deteriorated and that she was incredibly unwell, but the claims were promptly dismissed by her management team before the actress herself spoke out.

“I just want to say that the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated, to quote a very famous quote,” she told fans in a Twitter video.

“I am doing great and want to wish all of you the happiest, healthiest 2019 as possible and thank you all for your wonderful love and support for me and for my Olivia Newton-John cancer wellness centre in Melbourne, Australia.”

Newton-John revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer for a third time last year, having already fought the disease in 1992 and again in 2013.
