Olivia Colman is married to famous actor who has starred in BAFTA-winning BBC comedy

The Crown's Olivia Colman is married to a famous actor, who fans will recognise from a BAFTA-winning BBC comedy.

The 47-year-old actress, who is best known for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in the ITV drama, tied the knot to Ed Sinclair in 2001.

The couple share three children together, but they are usually kept out of the spotlight.

However Ed is no stranger to the limelight, as he once appeared in BBC TV series Look Around You, playing the role of Michael Butler.

The comedy series ran from 2002 to 2005, and aired two seasons on the channel.

Ed is now a writer, according to IMDB, and he is listed as the creator and producer of TV series Screenshot, as well as mini series Landscapers.

The sweet couple met at Cambridge University, where they both studied. They were both rehearsing for a production of Table Manners.

Olivia spent six weeks memorising the lyrics to the songs he liked, and his timetable, before professing her love for him through a mutual friend.

She said: “I sort of stalked him. Which I don’t condone. It did work in our case.

“I remind him every day that he is a very lucky man.

“I took three hours to get dressed every day. He was not aware of what was going on.

“Eventually I just told his friend to tell him I loved him and eventually his friend did.”

Olivia has previously told The Telegraph : "It sounds really odd, but I did fall in love with him at first sight.

"When he walked into the room, I just went, ‘That’s him!’ Mind you, I suppose if he hadn’t wanted me, then I might have gone, ‘That’s him!’ at someone else a week later."

Recently, Olivia revealed she was so overwhelmed by her Oscar win in 2019 that it took a year to sink in.

She said it was a big pinch-me moment, telling us: “It was such a “head f***”. I can’t believe it happened.

“I went quiet. It is only a year later that it registered and now the little gold man is sitting in a cupboard.”
