Olivia Colman covers US Vogue: The Crown star does Annie Leibovitz shoot for American fashion bible

The Crown star Olivia Colman is American Vogue's new cover star. Colman, 45, who is set to take over from Claire Foy as the Queen in the epic Netflix series, has appeared in a new shoot and interview for the US fashion bible.

Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, Colman is pictured in the magazine sipping tea in a ballgown and in a dramatic beach shot.

The actress, who won an Oscar earlier this year for her performance in The Favourite, told Vogue about her "complicated" experience as an actress over 40.

She has previously spoken about the pressures of taking on the role in Peter Morgan's critically-acclaimed drama.

Speaking to the Evening Standard earlier this year, Colman said, “I’m trying to eat less because Queen Elizabeth II was really tiny... I’m trying not to drink alcohol, eating healthily, just, erm, you know, walking.”

She added that she has tried to do plenty of "normal things" before the show begins: “I’m trying to do as many normal things as possible before The Crown" she said, "I try not to overlap jobs. At the moment I’m happy getting in all the stuff I can’t do when I am working.”

Vogue's October 2019 issue is available on newsstands in NY/LA September 17th, and nationwide September 24th

The Crown returns to Netflix on 17th November.
