Olivia Colman brands ageism 'f**king ridiculous' as she becomes Vogue cover star

Olivia Colman is the actress of the moment with an Oscar under belt and a hotly anticipated role in The Crown just around the corner.

And the 45-year-old isn't going to let the ageism in Hollywood hold her back from enjoying a soaring career, as she's just landed the cover of US Vogue.

The Norwich born star looks incredible as she graces the front page of the fashion bible for the October issue.

And in an eye-opening interview, Olivia opens up about age discrimination, which she calls "f**king ridiculous".

She says: "To be the ingenue and to keep working is rare because once people see you as that, they don’t like the process of aging.

"Which is f***ing ridiculous! I grew to my place."

Olivia also spoke about her love of fashion, revealing she uses clothes to boost her self-confidence.

She added: "I'd always used clothes as a sort of mask. I discovered that they can make you feel strong and powerful."

The article also features glowing praise from a number of Olivia's co-stars, including Phoebe Waller-Bridge and her Broadchurch co-star David Tennant.

Phoebe said: "Everyone shines a little more when she is acting with them. I will always aspire to her level of brilliance, but I've been equally inspired by who she is as a person and a professional.

"Work hard, and be nice to people. And don’t take yourself too seriously. And karaoke. I say those are the secrets to being as close to Olivia Colman as possible.

" Oh—and be hysterically funny and a genre-defying acting genius."

David said: "Acting is about the speed at which your mind and your imagination keep up, and she’s got this incredibly fast mind…

"It can be quite hard to pinpoint where Olivia ends and where her characters begin — she has incredible access."
