Olivia Bowen denies wrongdoing after Alex's stepdad pictured inside their home

Olivia Bowen has denied wrongdoing after a follower accused her of 'flouting lockdown rules' when Alex's stepdad was spotted in the background of a social media post.

The 27-year-old former Love Island star, who shot to fame on the ITV show in 2016, shared a picture on her Instagram story which featured a man in the background over the weekend.

While fans were quick to accuse Olivia and Alex of 'flouting rules' by allowing a family member into their home, a rep has since explained that Alex's step dad is a carpenter and he had been working on the couple's home.

Although households are not permitted to mix, according to national guidance tradespeople such as builders and labourers are permitted into other properties.

The snap in question, that Olivia shared with her 2.5 million Instagram followers on Sunday, featured the reality star smiling as she expressed her happiness about the sunny weather.

A representative for Olivia explained that Alex's stepdad had been doing joinery and woodwork on their home (Instagram)

"Anyone else just get SOOO HAPPY in the sun," she captioned the snap.

However eagle-eyed followers were quick to notice a figure in the background of the image who looked like Alex's stepdad.

Olivia's rep has explained to The Mirror that he was carrying out work and this is 'completely within the law'.

The rep said: "Alex and Olivia have had builders and labourers in their home for the last year, this is no exception.

"Alex’s step father is a carpenter by trade who has been doing some joinery and wood work, alone, for their house this weekend, this is completely within the law and the government advice."

Despite work at their home is permitted, it didn't stop one follower calling the Love Islander out in their private messages.

In a series of exchanges, obtained by the MailOnline, a fan messaged Olivia about the picture asking: "Hi, just wondering why you have people outside of your family at your house? I would love to be able to see my family and seeing other people breaking the rules is just so unfair."

Olivia reportedly responded to a follower who accused her of having another person in her home (Instagram)

Olivia responded: "Not sure what you're talking about."

The follower then went on: "The person in the background of your latest story."

Olivia later added: "Haven't seen anyone," and "I don't know what you're talking about."
