Olivia Attwood has said she is “so proud” of her sister Georgia after she was rushed to hospital while on a trip to Miami.

The TV presenter, 35, shared a video Georgia put up where she discussed her recent surgery for her endometriosis.

Alongside the video, Attwood wrote: “So proud of you, strongest person I know.”

Georgia said her endometriosis symptoms “turned critical” while she was in Miami where she was in hospital for five days.

When she returned home, she went “straight into surgery”.

She wrote: “This time, they found endometriosis had spread into my bowel, causing a blockage, with lesions fusing it to my pelvic wall.

Learning how far it had progressed despite all the previous surgery was devastating.

“I’m lucky to have had an incredible surgeon and a successful outcome — but recovery isn’t linear.”

Attwood also posted a series of heart emojis under her sister’s post detailing her surgery.

Georgia works as a chief business officer for LifeSci, an investor relations firm, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Endometriosis is where cells similar to those in the lining of the womb (uterus) grow in other parts of the body.

It often develops in areas around the womb, such as the fallopian tubes, ovaries and lining of the pelvis. It also sometimes affects organs such as the bladder or bowel.

Symptoms include period pain, pain in the lower stomach or pelvic area, extreme tiredness and pain or bleeding in other areas.

There is no known cure and treatment is used to help manage symptoms such as pain.

Surgery is an option for women who have a lot of endometriosis when other treatments haven’t worked, or when it is affecting their ability to have children.
