Oliver Skipp now has perfect route to Tottenham first-team with £18m transfer mooted

Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp could be handed a perfect route through to the Tottenham first team with Harry Winks being linked with a move away.

According to Fabrizio Romano, there is a “possibility” of the 25-year-old moving to Everton this window with Spurs willing to cash-in.

football.london understands that whilst Winks, who is valued at £18m by transfermarkt, is happy at Spurs but the club are open to realistic offers should they arrive.

Should he be moved onto Spurs’ Premier League rivals, this would certainly open a vital gap in the current squad that Skipp ,could claim.

The 20-year-old impressed highly with Norwich City last season. He played every game but one as Daniel Farke’s men earned an instant return to the Premier League and has continued that form upon his return to north London.

Skipp was one of the standout performers in the first-half display against Colchester United in a pre-season friendly, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men racing into a 3-0 lead before the break. He drew plenty of praise from Spurs fans for his performance.

It was a show of faith that had seen the Portuguese stick to his promise. football.london understands that the former Wolves boss is keen to keep Skipp at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium throughout the campaign to continue his development.

That is certainly going to help should he hope add to his 23 Spurs outings that he has made throughout his fledgling career so far.

It is an opportunity that will almost certainly be enhanced should Winks be sold. If he joins Everton, that would leave Tanguy Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso and Moussa Sissoko as natural central midfield options.

With his passing range and of course home grown status, Skipp would certainly be an attractive option to fill the potential gap vacated by Winks.

Espirito Santo has so far called for caution regarding the youngster’s work load and expectations but his comments suggest that he is already to have him in and around the squad.

He said: “We have to be really careful. The doctors were worried because he’s only getting back from injury. We have to be careful, but good for him. It’s always nice to have bodies.”

The Spurs youngster now has a great chance to become a real option within the Portuguese’s current squad and has a path opening up with Winks’ potential sale.
