Oliver Skipp makes first Tottenham start as Mauricio Pochettino selects 18-year-old for Burnley clash

Mauricio Pochettino has handed Tottenham youngster Oliver Skipp his first start as Spurs host Burnley in the Premier League .

The 18-year-old, who made his League debut off the bench against Southampton this month, comes in for the absent Eric Dier who misses out due to a virus.

Skipp has been on the fringes of the squad since impressing on a pre-season tour to the United States.

Pochettino has also had to call on Ben Davies to move into a back four with Jan Vertonghen ruled out with a thigh injury. The Welshman plays comfortably in a back three at international level, but is untested in a back four, while after impressing in the Camp Nou Danny Rose keeps his place at left-back and Kieran Trippier returns from injury on the other side having passed a late fitness test.

Furthermore, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son are rested from the off, named on the bench with a trip to Arsenal in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
