Oliver Glasner reveals Jean-Philippe Mateta transfer latest as Crystal Palace star seeks exit

Oliver Glasner has said that Crystal Palace have yet to receive a bid for Jean-Philippe Mateta despite reports linking the striker with a move away from the club in January.

The Palace boss also confirmed that Mateta had not handed in a transfer request and would be available to face Chelsea on Saturday.

Aston Villa are reported to be interested in Mateta, who has a contract with Palace until 2027 and is hoping to make France’s World Cup squad this summer.

Standard Sport reported in December that Mateta had no plans to sign a new contract with Palace, with the French international keen to play Champions League football.

Asked about Mateta’s future, Glasner, who confirmed last week that he would be leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract in the summer, said that the 28-year-old would play against Chelsea.

"We haven’t received a bid. He will play [against Chelsea] on Sunday,” Glasner told reporters.

Palace have already sold captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City and are reluctant to lose Mateta in the same window.

Mateta has been one of the form strikers in the Premier League over the last two and a half seasons, and helped Palace lift the FA Cup last May.

He has struggled for consistency this season, playing through knee pain for much of the campaign.

However, with nine goals in all competitions, Mateta is still Palace’s top goalscorer and remains an integral part of their plans as they look to win the Conference League this season.
