Oliver Burke insists he can be La Liga star once he masters the lingo

Oliver Burke reckons he can be part of an Alaves La Liga fairytale - once he learns the lingo.

The former Celtic loan star has been sent to Spain for the season from West Brom after a messy end to his loan spell at Parkhead.

And the Scotland international made his debut in Spain's top flight at the weekend as a sub. However, he couldn't prevent his team slumping to a 1-0 defeat to Sevilla.

Burke 's loan stint at Celtic ended in May with West Brom's sporting director Luke Dowling sparking a war of words after hinting there was a change in approach towards the 22-year-old after Neil Lennon replaced Brendan Rodgers

Baggies boss Slaven Bilic insisted last week the move to Spain would help Burke's long term future. And the 22-year-old is convinced he will enjoy the loan spell once he settles in.

Burke said: "I feel I am getting more involved with the squad little by little. Obviously, the language is a barrier for me at the moment, but I will learn it.

"There's a lot of potential in the squad and I could see that just with the 45 minutes I got the other day.

"I hope everyone has a bit of patience with me because it may take some time to adapt to a new style of football for me.

"But this is one of the best leagues in world football, if not the best. I have come here to grow as a footballer and as a person and to help the team get as far up the table as I can."
