Oliver Bond residents living in fear for their safety as Dublin flats described as 'major hotspot' for illegal activity

Terrified residents are living in fear of their safety as ongoing drug dealing and anti-social activity continues in a south inner city flat complex.

The same complex was the scene of illicit rave that caused outrage across Dublin last September which apparently flouted public health guidelines as well as drug laws.

Now a resident is describing the Dublin City Council complex as a "major hotspot" for drug dealing and illegal activities.

One concerned resident told Dublin Live: "A few residents and myself have started to bring this serious situation to light because the complex is now a major hotspot for very dangerous gang activity and drug dealing.

"These drug dealers are well known but seem to have carte blanche to sell their drugs on a 24/7 basis . The situation now in Oliver Bond has become unliveable for some residents inside the complex.

"Residents are constantly being intimidated and threatened on a daily basis. These residents have been putting with the very serious and dangerous situations the past two years.

Among issues raised are claims that flats are being smashed up, women being beaten up in front of their children, residents being threatened to have their homes burned down, drugs being hidden around people's homes, police raids, parties all night and numerous anti social problems.

They continued: "Many of these drug dealers are well know to the guards and it is well know what they are doing inside the Oliver Bond complex but yet they still operate daily. Some of theres people are very dangerous individuals and residents are very afraid to stand up to them.

"Residents are pleading and begging for help for this to be sorted out because the quality of life has dropped dramatically for many hard working residents who always pay rent and most never cause an ounce of trouble who just want to have a peaceful life .

"A lot of residents and myself have already brought this up with the council and the guards but there just seems to be a blind eye been turned which is an absolute disgrace .

"We need something done because people shouldn't have to live like this."
