Oliver and the Seawigs by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre - review

Oliver is a boy whose parents are explorers. They have been captured by a mean rambling island. The mean rambling island steals another rambling island's sea wig (which is really a submarine) so Oliver, a mermaid, a bird and the nice rambling island have to try and get it back.

This is an adventure book and it is also quite funny. It's a great book because it's action-packed and it has just about the right amount of detail. Some bits are a bit confusing because the bird is called Mr Something and I kept thinking it was a different character, but there's nothing else I didn't like.

I would recommend this book to boys and girls who are about 7 or 8 and who like funny books like Mr Gum or Astrosaurs, or exciting books like Adventure Island and Enid Blyton.
