Oli Shaw admits he was gutted that his side couldn’t send their fans away happy on Saturday – but says it’s time to dust themselves down and go again.
Kilmarnock supporters travelled in strong numbers to Fife but Dunfermline Athletic’s last-gasp equaliser left them with a sour taste as they headed back to Ayrshire.
And Shaw was devastated that they couldn’t hold on after his goal gave them a 2-1 lead.
He told the Kilmarnock Standard: “When you get to that stage of a game you think you are going to see it out.
“It’s difficult to take, especially when it was the last kick of the ball and it snatches victory away from you.
“If that doesn’t go in it’s a good win, but we know ourselves it wasn’t the best performance.
“At the end of the day we were winning in the 95th minute, we have got to take three points from that.”
He added: “The fans were brilliant, and we appreciate that – we were gutted not to send them home happy.
“The supporters play a massive part throughout a season, and they will be huge when we head into the rest of the season, and I am sure they will stick by us.”
And now the focus is on a cinch Championship home clash with Hamilton Accies on Saturday before a trip to bitter rivals Ayr United on Tuesday night.
Accies lost 6-1 at home to Partick Thistle on Friday night but Shaw knows they will be hoping to rectify that.
He said: “We have to move on now and pick ourselves up. There was disappointment in the dressing room, that’s just natural after that. But we have to dust ourselves down.”
