Gutted Oli McBurnie has been left “heartbroken” after confirming he has been robbed of the chance of playing at the Euros.
The Sheffield United striker was crocked against Arsenal last month with a fracture to a metatarsal which left his hopes of starring with Scotland at this summer’s tournament hanging by a thread.
And now they have been completely dashed and the devastated 24-year-old will not be picked by Steve Clarke when he names his provisional 26-man squad tomorrow.
McBurnie said: “I’m devastated that I suffered a fractured metatarsal which ruled me out for the rest of the season and has unfortunately ruled me out for the Euros.
“Not to be able to go to that tournament with the boys is heartbreaking for me. Thank you for all your messages and support.”
Clarke will name his squad ahead of clashes with the Czech Republic, England and Croatia and is expected to include strikers such as Che Adams of Southampton, QPR’s Lyndon Dykes and Hibs man Kevin Nisbet.
