Oleksandr Zinchenko leaves Man City camp to join Arsenal in Orlando ahead of £30m transfer

Oleksandr Zinchenko has left the Manchester City pre-season camp to join up with Arsenal and complete his transfer to the club football.london understands. The Ukraine international is set to become the Gunners' fifth signing of the summer in a deal thought to be initially worth around £30 million.

The 25-year-old was already in America with the City squad for their preseason tour in Houston, Texas. Mikel Arteta's men arrived in Orlando on Sunday for the second leg of their US tour, making it easier for the deal to be completed there than back in London.

Technical director Edu is flying out to Orlando to join up with the Arsenal squad on Tuesday. It is thought that Zinchenko will either complete his medical on Tuesday or Wednesday, although it is not yet clear whether he will be available for selection to make his debut in Saturday's preseason friendly match against Chelsea.

The move will see Zinchenko link up with the Spaniard once more, having been coached by him when Arteta was assistant manager at the Etihad. He will also rejoin Gabriel Jesus, whom he played with in his time in Manchester.

Both bring plenty of experience from their time under Pep Guardiola, despite their tender years. The Citizens have been serial winners in recent years, earning victories in the Premier League and domestic cups.

Zinchenko has also received plenty of plaudits from his current manager, showing why he has been a part of title winning sides. Guardiola said about the defender back in 2019: "Incredible is the only thing I can say. Oleks has showed me the importance and value of being a good guy.

“At the beginning of the season he was close to making a transfer, and I never saw him have one bad face or had a bad training session from him. Some players want to show me how disappointed they are, but Zinchenko is the complete opposite. When this happens, you are always going to play good."
