Oleksandr Zinchenko eyed for Andriy Shevchenko reunion and more Man City transfer rumours

New Genoa boss Andriy Shevchenko is reportedly plotting a move for Manchester City full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Ukrainian legend knows all about the Blues man after working with the 24-year-old during his time as manager of the Ukraine national team.

He departed that role in August after they bowed out in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 where they were beaten 4-0 by England in Rome.

And the 45-year-old takes the reigns at the Serie A side who sit just above the relegation places, spared by the drop zone on goal difference after Davide Ballardini was sacked on Saturday.

Sport Media Set report that with the January transfer window on the horizon, he is plotting a reunion with his countryman at a club level as he looks to create some breathing space with the relegation zone in his first job at domestic level.

Zinchenko has found first-team minutes difficult to come by since regaining fitness following a calf injury as Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker currently occupy starting positions in Pep Guardiola's XI. He could only manage a 10-minute cameo in the comfortable win over Club Brugge last week replacing the Englishman.

Another reported outgoing could pave way for an incoming as the Blues are said to have registered an interest in Matthijs de Ligt.

The Dutchman is in his second year in the Italian league with Juventus but is said to be unhappy with his game time in Turin under new manager Massimiliano Allegri as reported by news outlet Calciomercato, via Fichajes.

City, on the other hand, are reportedly ready to let Nathan Ake leave in the summer which could free space for the 22-year-old - whose reported £128m release clause will become active at the turn of the year.
