Oleksandr Usyk open to fighting Tyson Fury if Anthony Joshua steps aside, says promoter

Oleksandr Usyk is open to fighting Tyson Fury next in order to decide the undisputed champion, according to his promoter.

While Anthony Joshua has activated his rematch clause after losing to the Ukrainian in September, Alexander Krassyuk told Sky Sports that his client would gladly fight Fury should Joshua choose to step aside.

With Joshua vs Usyk II scheduled for 2022, Fury is without an opponent after closing the Deontay Wilder chapter of his career in October. Dillian Whyte could be next for the WBC heavyweight champion but has not yet been confirmed as the mandatory challenger.

“The talks on AJ’s step aside have been around since Fury KO’d Wilder,” he said.

“I heard that Joshua could consider stepping aside if the money is right as he feels respect to the division and is willing to let the undisputed heavyweight championship happen.

“Usyk says that he can fight Fury next if the offer is right and if AJ allows to do so.”
