Ole Miss starter suffers ‘serious’ injury ahead of Georgia matchup

No. 2 Georgia (9-0, 6-0 SEC) will take on No. 9 Ole Miss (8-1, 5-1 SEC) on Saturday night in Athens. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET, televised on ESPN.

A report surfaced on Wednesday night that Ole Miss right tackle Micah Pettus suffered a serious injury in practice, putting his status versus the Bulldogs in doubt.

According to 247Sports’ Jared Redding, Pettus may have broken his foot. The team hasn’t provided confirmation as of yet, but this is a huge blow to the Rebels.

Pettus (6-foot-7, 360 pounds) earned third-team Freshman All-American honors last season and has started all nine games this season at right tackle.

Ole Miss has remained relatively healthy this season, but if Pettus can’t play on Saturday that would certainly throw a wrench into the Rebels’ game plan.
