Ole Gunnar Solskjaer warns Man Utd players over Barcelona dirty tricks

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told his Manchester United players to be wary of Barcelona's dirty tricks.

Solskjaer said United's players must keep their focus and not be drawn into making silly fouls - or Barca superstar Lionel Messi will make them pay

United host Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, with Solskjaer warning against giving Messi any chance to showcase his magic.

Barca duo Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets are among their canniest players in drawing fouls, with Italian ref Gianluca Rocchi set for a testing night at Old Trafford.

“We know we can’t give fouls away,” said Solskjaer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals how Paul Pogba can upstage Lionel Messi in Champions League

"How many goals has Messi scored from free-kicks just outside the box?

“So of course we’ve got to be careful and the referees can’t buy little things.

"Players have talked about it - how we got dragged into making fouls against PSG in the previous round and how European football is.

“You've got to be more patient in tackles.

"Some of these players will have some tricks up their sleeves, they're streetwise players. We've learned from that game.

“I can feel the tension, excitement. At training today and yesterday, you can see players wanting to play.”

Solskjaer admitted United got lulled into a false sense of security when losing 2-0 to PSG at Old Trafford, after going into it on an 11-match unbeaten run under him.

"The mood before the PSG home game was a little bit different - because they'd won so many games,” said Solskajer. “But we've learnt from that game.

"We weren't lucky with the ref against PSG at home, where they should have had a man sent off, so we hope for some luck there as well."

Marcus Rashford and Nemanja Matic are carrying knocks and will have late fitness tests today, but both are expected to be passed fit, although midfielder Ander Herrera is out.
