Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told win over Spurs only 'prolonging' Manchester United exit

Gabby Agbonlahor believes that despite Manchester United beating Spurs on Saturday evening, it is only "prolonging" Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's fate in the hot seat.

The United boss came under immense scrutiny over the last week following the defeat to Liverpool but his side returned to winning ways with a comfortable win over Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored and assisted, becoming the oldest player since Didier Drogba to do so, as he helped steer Solskjaer's side over the line - ending a run of four Premier League games without a defeat.

It was a positive turnaround from the dismal defeat at Old Trafford this weekend with United making two changes from their last outing, switching to five in defence with Victor Lindelof adding extra security at the back whilst Edinson Cavani started alongside Ronaldo.

The former Aston Villa forward praised the change from the Norwegian's side showing their grit under pressure but believes that after a week of speculation surrounding his position, it allows little respite for the 48-year-old.

"From the first second in the game they showed fight, they were fighting for Solskjaer. This was the obvious formation to play, your defenders are struggling, if you're struggling to keep clean sheets what are you going to do?" He said on TalkSPORT.

"You go five at the back, it's not rocket science. I said it midweek, play five at the back, stop the goals going in, you've got goalscorers in your team. You've got Ronaldo, Cavani, Greenwood or Rashford as two strikers they would've scored, Rashford come on and scored playing against a bang average Spurs team.

"Basically for me, this is just prolonging what is going to happen, Ole's going to leave Manchester United but you've got to give him credit for getting a result today."
