Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told what his new best Manchester United attack is

Manchester United fans believe that Anthony Martial is no longer in the club's best front-three after a disappointing start to the season.

After appearing to solidify himself as United's undisputed first choice striker last season with a return of 23 goals and 12 assists, Martial has struggled to replicate that form so far in the current campaign and has only got two goals to his name so far, both coming in the Champions League and one of which was a penalty.

The nadir came in Wednesday's agonising 3-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, in which the Frenchman missed two brilliant opportunities to give his side the lead when the scores were still level, on one instance blazing the ball over the bar when he had an open goal to aim at.

Unfortunately for Martial, his drop in performance level has come at a time when Edinson Cavani has shown precisely why he was brought in on a free transfer this summer.

Cavani was brought on at half-time when United were 2-0 down at Southampton on Sunday and he completely turned the game on its head. He set up United's first goal with a smart cross to Bruno Fernandes and then scored two expert headers to secure the turn around.

The 33-year-old's contributions earned him a starting berth when his former club PSG visited Old Trafford. He put in another terrific display and was desperately unlucky to hit the crossbar after he had lobbed the goalkeeper from distance.

Unsurprisingly, fans now believe that Cavani should take up the role as the lead striker in attack. That would still leave two more places, on the flanks, for Martial to fit in the front-three but fans would rather see Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood take up those spots.

M.E.N. Sport asked fans: "Following Edinson Cavani's brilliant performances this week, what is Man United's best front-three?"

The clear winner with 59 per cent of the 3,319 votes was the trio of Rashford, Cavani and Greenwood. In second place came Martial, Cavani and Rashford with 35 per cent. Then, with 3 per cent a piece, came last year's first choice of Rashford, Martial and Greenwood and 'other.'

Rashford, while certainly also guilty of missing crucial chances, has enjoyed a much better season with nine goals and five assists to his tally so far. Greenwood, meanwhile, has had a difficult start to the campaign but has managed to match Martial's goal return and is also a more natural fit on the right thanks his ability to cut inside on his left foot.
