Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told to sell Manchester United players who are not Premier League quality

Manchester United are expected to endure an off-season of change this summer as players leave and the club aim to land notable signings.

A torrid end to the season has increased the need for the Red Devils to replenish the squad and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to let a number of experienced individuals depart Old Trafford.

United suffered the ultimate ignominy on the final day of the season when they lost 2-0 at home to Cardiff City, with the Welsh side's relegation to the Championship already confirmed ahead of the last day.

Former Wimbledon star turned football pundit Vinnie Jones believes that some of Solskjaer's squad should join Cardiff in the Championship next season, with the former defender insisting there are members of the United team who are not even Premier League quality.

Without naming names, Jones hammered the loss to Cardiff and blamed the players, while he also suggested Solskjaer himself was lucky to land the job at Old Trafford in the first place.

“Manchester United, that was unbelievable to go down 2-0 at home,” Jones told talkSPORT. “When Solskjaer got the job I honestly thought they had a few lucky results.

“I know they went on a run, but there were a few that could have gone either way. The defending has been shocking for months. They’ve got no Steve Bruce or someone like that in centre-half, they’ve got no Roy Keane or Bryan Robson of old in the centre of midfield.

“There are definitely a few who have got to go. A few of them are a little bit past their sell by date and they’ve got to move on to a lesser club – maybe lower Premier League and Championship clubs.”
