Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told to buy world class players to solve Manchester United problems

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been told he needs to invest in 'world-class' players to help Manchester United improve by former club winger Luis Nani.

The Norwegian is embarking on a rebuild this summer after United finished sixth in the league and consequently missed out on Champions League football.

And while Solskjaer prepares to make his first signing as United manager he's been urged by former player Nani to secure 'world-class' talent in order to really change things at the club.

"United need more world-class players. Change something, attitude on the pitch," Nani told  Omnisport .

"I remember from my time with [former manager] Alex Ferguson, a lot of games we weren't playing our best, we weren't playing beautiful football but in 15 minutes we played with our hearts and to score goals.

"We run, fight for each ball. That's the way we get all the results. They must have more desire to win every battle on the pitch, every ball, every challenge because just like that they're going to improve."

Nani, who now plays for MLS side Orlando City, won four Premier League titles and the Champions League during his seven years playing for the club and admits it's sad to see United in their current state, having not won a league title since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013.

"I keep track. It makes me sad for the club, the players. It's not the moment of United. Maybe for next season, they can do much better," the 32-year-old said.

"As a team, they are not a strong team. They must know that. Obviously, it's still a young team too and maybe the club need to sign some top, experienced players to keep United among the best clubs in the world, with Barceloa, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.

"Because at the moment, we can't compete with them because they are stronger. But in one season, everything can change."
