Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told to axe two key Man Utd stars - and then raid Chelsea

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been urged to dump Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic this summer.

Former Manchester United star Lee Sharpe thinks the pair don't offer enough and his old club should cash in.

If they can clear the decks, he feels Chelsea ’s N’Golo Kante should be signed to help put the Reds back into title contention - as he reckons the Blues may do a deal.

The 90s star thinks changes are needed at Old Trafford after assessing what the club must do this summer on talkSPORT .

"They have to go out and buy ready-made world-class players," said Sharpe, who played nearly 200 times for United after signing from Torquay United in 1988.

How Chelsea's defeat to Liverpool affects Premier League top four race

"They’ve got a few young players who are coming through - Scott McTominay looks really good.

"There are a few young players in the team so they need ready-made, experienced, world-class players to put them back on that sort of level and stage.

"I’m not sure it’s really worked out for Lukaku, a world-class centre-forward would be great.

"Defensively they look a little bit uncertain so maybe a centre-half. If I was at United, I’d probably look at swapping Matic, he’s been brilliant but he’s probably lost a yard.

"I’d go out and spend some money and get Kante because they don’t seem to fancy him at Chelsea."

Solskjaer insists he has a plan to thwart the Barcelona in the Nou Camp on Tuesday night.

He said after the 2-1 win over West Ham : “I rested a few here to be ready for Tuesday, but we have a decent plan.

“I hope it’s decent. It’s a plan, anyway. You look at the quality of those players and that gives us a threat.

“We carry a goal threat but, of course, what we did against Paris Saint-Germain as a team must give everyone a huge confidence boost.

“That experience was probably the best they’ve had for many years, and they’re probably dreaming about another one of them again at the Nou Camp.”
