Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to give Man Utd loanee a first-team chance next season

Axel Tuanzebe will be given the opportunity to show what he can do over the summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considers his options for next season.

The 21-year-old centre back has impressed in recent weeks at Aston Villa, where he has been on loan all season.

With his loan set to come to an end in the summer, United are reportedly keen for him to join up with the first-team squad when they travel to Australia, China and Singapore on a pre-season tour.

Tuanzebe will no doubt see the friendly matches against the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan and AC Milan as a big chance to impress his boss and try to stake a claim for a place in the starting 11 in the upcoming season.

Marcus Rashford hands Man Utd fitness boost by playing full part in training

The England U21 international, who came through the youth system at United, has made five senior appearances in the senior team to date, making his debut as a substitute in an FA Cup win over Wigan Athletic in 2017.

United decided he was in need of some further experience, however, and loaned him to Villa in January 2018. Although injuries hampered his first spell at Villa Park, he returned at the start of the current season and has since made 24 appearances in the Championship.

Former Man Utd and Everton star angers Liverpool fans with title claim

Red Devils fans raved about his most recent appearance in Villa's 1-1 draw with Leeds United, and are clearly hoping Solskjaer gives the youngster a chance sooner rather than later.

United's defence is clearly in need of some fresh blood, with the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling arguably past their best and Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly often out with injury issues.

United staff have clearly recommended Tuanzebe to Solskjaer, and no doubt the Norwegian will be keeping a very close eye on the player over the summer.
