Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stuns Manchester United players in training

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has an insatiable appetite for scoring goals, according to Lee Grant.

The former forward, who became Manchester United's caretaker manager in December before taking on the role permanently in March, showcased his ability in a training drill with Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba before the end of the season - and impressed his players.

Grant, United's third-choice stopper, was in goal and said he was left with no chance from some of the Norwegian's efforts.

"It was the first time I managed to get a glimpse of whether he still had it or not," Grant, who signed on at Old Trafford last summer, told manutd.com.

"We had a shooting session and I was doing some one-on-one work with Romelu [Lukaku] and Paul [Pogba].

"The manager came over and I could see he was limbering up in the corner of my eye.

What the Manchester United transfer list could look like

Manchester United are about to get another reality check

"He got involved and he was still pretty deadly, I have to be honest. He had some bad luck because he kept hitting the same post in the same spot.

"But the touch was there and the instinct was still there. He is very, very clinical still. He did well and I am looking forward to seeing that game on Sunday."

Solskjaer is set to line up for a United legends XI against Bayern Munich on Sunday to mark the 20th anniversary of the Champions League final victory that secured the Reds' unprecedented treble.

Why Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba was in Turin last weekend

David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs are all expected to feature, with Sir Alex Ferguson guiding his side from the touchline.

Grant was a United supporter growing up and says he has fond memories of watching Solskjaer score the winner in United's 2-1 victory against Bayern on May 26, 1999.

"I was 16," he explained. "I was an avid United fan, sat on the sofa, watching the game. I was very despondent throughout the final [when we were losing 1-0], close to tears as I had really been looking forward to that night.

The Manchester United squad numbers available to summer signings

"We had the champagne on ice in the fridge… and we never had champagne in my house! It was a big moment because the treble was on the horizon.

"To get to the back-end of the game and look like we weren't going to win it was heartbreaking. Then we got a goal and it was bedlam in our house.

"When the final whistle went after we'd got the winner, it was bonkers. I remember flying out of the front door and into the garden with a knee slide! The champagne came out, we were spraying it all over, and everybody up and down the street was aware of the result. It was a great moment."
