Ole Gunnar Solskjaer slams VAR after Manchester United defeat to Aston Villa

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has slammed the VAR system after Manchester United's late defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend.

United fell to their first loss of the new Premier League season when Kortney Hause headed in a late goal to give Dean Smith's side a precious 1-0 win at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes had the chance to rescue a point for United late on when he skied an injury-time penalty kick but after the match Solskjaer wanted to draw attention to the Villa winner.

The Norwegian believes the goal should have been flagged offside for interference from striker Ollie Watkins on the line and that it was a failure from the Video Assistant Referee for not picking it up.

"Decision making on VAR cost us again, unfortunately," he told MUTV at full-time.

"The goal is offside, as Hause heads it Watkins is actually touching David (De Gea) so he is impeding with him. I can't see the consistency anywhere with the VAR and the decision-making.

"They came out in the corridor and I asked them for an explanation. The linesman he flagged it up with the VAR and definitely the VAR has gone wrong again."
