Ole Gunnar Solskjaer singles out Man Utd youngster for praise after Wolves draw

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hailed the performance of Man Utd youngster Tahith Chong following his side's 0-0 draw with Wolves .

United travelled to Molineux for the FA Cup third round clash with Wolves on Saturday - whom they were eliminated by in last season's competition.

Solskjaer opted to use the fixture as an opportunity to rest some of his key first-team stars, with Marcus Rashford left on the bench, while Anthony Martial was omitted completely.

The absence of both players gave Chong a chance to impress on the right side of a front three, and Solskjaer was "very pleased" with his efforts.

"I thought Tahith Chong was fantastic tonight, he caused loads of problems for them," Solskjaer said.

The 20-year-old made just his seventh appearance of the season, amid rumours that he wants to leave the club.

Chong has been linked with a switch to Juventus , but United are convinced the Dutchman will remain at Old Trafford.

He was at the heart of most of United's work in the attacking third, cutting back for Daniel James to shoot over in the first half, before playing Ashley Young in behind, whose inviting cross was not met by a United shirt.

Chong later forced two Wolves players into the referee's book after reckless tackles, and was eventually substituted with eight minutes of normal time remaining, shortly after receiving treatment for a knock.

One injury concern for Solskjaer is defender Harry Maguire, who is now a doubt for the Carabao Cup semi-final clash with rivals Man City on Tuesday.

When asked if Maguire would be fit, Solskjaer replied: "I don't know. We were close to taking him off at half-time but he battled through.

"Let's see how he recovers, we hope so."

United's fixture pile-up continues as they must now contest a replay, which is equally as unappealing for fellow Europa League contenders Wolves.

Solskjaer said: "I'd rather have a replay than being out of the cup, of course. We knew coming here was difficult, but we're still in the hat, and at home there's a little bit more chance to go through."
