Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sets sights on Chelsea in Man Utd Champions League prediction

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned Champions League rivals Chelsea – We are coming for you.

Manchester United are three points behind Chelsea with nine games of the season still to play when football resumes after the coronavirus pandemic.

And Old Trafford boss Solskjaer has revealed catching Chelsea are United's number one target when games restart – with winning a trophy next on his wish list with his stars still in the FA Cup and Europa League.

“We are three points behind Chelsea and we want to start playing again and catch them” says Solskjaer.

“We have the two cup competitions which are a bonus and maybe there is the way to a final or a trophy for us.

“Hopefully, all the players have been looking after themselves during the two months we've been out and we just have to play it by ear and hope we click early.”

With long-term injury casualties Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford set to play when football returns – possibly on June 12 – Solskjaer is optimistic his stars can rediscover the vein of form they were in before the global health crisis halted sport.

United were unbeaten in their last eleven games before football was stopped – winning eight and drawing three.

Their last Premier League game was a 2-0 Old Trafford win over Manchester City – giving Solskjaer hope of a strong end to the campaign.

“We are trying to improve all the time develop as a team now we have a full squad to choose from when we come back” Solskjaer told BT Sport.

“Hopefully, the consistency comes. We have had to take some difficult decisions but the young players coming through are proving that we have made a good decision .

“We've signed Bruno Fernandes which is exciting and the three players we signed early on have given us stability and we are looking better and better.”
