Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sets out stance on David De Gea ahead of Man United's clash with Chelsea

David De Gea will not be dropped for Manchester United's crunch clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday.

That's according to United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has spoken out on criticism of the Spaniard following a number of errors in recent matches, including against Barcelona in the Champions League and in the Manchester derby as City won 2-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

But speaking at his pre-match press conference today (Friday) ahead of the game with top four rivals Chelsea, Solskjaer insists that the Spaniard has his full support amid the tough spell that he is currently going through.

Alan Shearer makes big top four prediction which will delight Chelsea and Spurs supporters

"No. Not at all," Solskjaer said when asked if De Gea could be dropped.

"Because I trust David and he’s for me been the best player United have had last six or seven years, absolutely outstanding and going through touch patches is part of a footballer’s career and David will be fine. No worries."

The Norwegian added that he did not feel contract talks were distracting De Gea either, with United trying to tie the goalkeeper down to a new deal.

"That’s something you have to deal with as a footballer, it’s a situation," Solskjaer said.
