Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent Manchester United summer transfer window message

Manchester United fans want the club to stick to their transfer plans and prioritise the signing of a winger this summer but believe their targets should change elsewhere.

United are currently enjoying their best run of form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as permanent manager and are on an impressive 17-game unbeaten streak.

Much of their improvement can be owed to the new midfield duo of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba, but a lot of the credit also has to go to their free-scoring front three of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

The attacking trio's brilliant performances and constantly growing understanding has led some to wonder if top summer target Jadon Sancho is no longer required.

M.E.N. Sport asked United fans: "Following Manchester United's great recent form, what position should the club now prioritise in the summer transfer window?" As Solskjaer would ideally like enhance his attacking ranks with the signings of a winger and playmaker.

The marginal winner with 44 per cent of the 4,287 votes was 'winger,' with fans wanting the club to stick with the plan and continue to pursue Borussia Dortmund star Sancho to bring even more quality and depth to the attacking third, after he enjoyed another fine season in Germany.

However, a sizeable 38 per cent of the vote believe that a new centre-back should also be brought in to help sure up the back-line as some frailties have still been present in United's recent wins, even if they didn't prove costly.

M.E.N. Sport understands that a centre-back isn't currently a priority and Solskjaer laughed off the suggestion of signing one this week as there are already seven on United's books.

12 per cent of the voters also believe that United should target a new defensive-midfielder to bring more steel to the midfield, despite Nemanja Matic, Fred and Scott McTominay already being in the squad.

Finally, only six per cent of the voters believe United should still target a creative midfielder, with United's current target for the position being Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.
