Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sends warning to Manchester United players ahead of Leeds United clash

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has labelled Saturday's season opener as a "one-off, special game" but warned Manchester United must do everything correct to beat Leeds United.

The Whites begin their 2021/22 Premier League campaign at Old Trafford on Saturday against their oldest enemy.

Leeds fans will be welcomed back into an away ground for the first time in 18 months in what will undoubtedly be a special atmosphere.

The highly-anticipated encounter has been given the usual high build-up and Solkjaer has admitted that Manchester United will have to do 'everything perfect' to get the right result against Marcelo Bielsa's side.

"The start of the season is very important," Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

"We were very bad at home at the start of last season but then, away from home, we were unbeaten.

"Finally we've got our fans back, that's going to mean a hell of a lot for our players, it's going to give us energy. That first tackle, that first shot, is going to give our players and fans energy.

"It's a chance for every team to start well, and we want to start well. I'm just looking at the Leeds game now, we've done the pre-season, that foundation is laid.

"Leeds is a one-off game, I think everyone who plays against Marcelo Bielsa's team knows they are one-off, special games and you have got to do everything correct to have a chance of getting a good result.

"We're looking forward to it, physically and tactically we are up for a hard day. After that we can see if we've started off better than what we did last season."
