Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sends warning to Manchester United players about Europa League final

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told his Manchester United players to stop trying to be 'world beaters' and rediscover their form before the Europa League final.

United laboured again at Old Trafford as they failed to win a home game for the third successive time — drawing 1-1 with Fulham after defeats to Leicester and Liverpool last week.

Edinson Cavani had put United ahead with a spectacular chip, to prompt joyous scenes among the returning fans at the stadium, but Solskjaer's side were pegged back by Joe Bryan's goal.

It means United are stumbling towards the end of the season, which is a concern for the Norwegian going into the Europa League final against Villarreal in Gdansk on May 26th.

Solskjaer was asked about United's indifferent form in a Sky Sports interview after the game.

"We know that we're at the end of a season," he said, explaining the dip. "We're tired. We need to get minutes into some [players], rest some — because we need to be ready for the last game of the season, that's the most important one now."

It was put to Solskjaer that United have gained just one point from their previous three games in the league, all at Old Trafford, and he said: "Very much [concerning]. Because we've failed to win games in a period that we should be bouncing, going into the next game and looking forward to it, going into the final confident.

"But we need to sort a few things out. Stop trying to be the world-beater and play as a team."

United finish their Premier League campaign away at Wolves on Sunday, before travelling to Poland as they try to win their first piece of major silverware under Solskjaer.
