Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists no-one hates losing at Manchester United more than him.
Solskjaer made it clear he understands that the consequences of failure at Old Trafford will bring him the sack as he prepares to face a man who knows all about the perils of football management.
Thomas Tuchel was out of work for just a month after being fired by Paris St Germain on Christmas Eve, when Roman Abramovich offered him the chance to succeed Frank Lampard as Chelsea boss.
Sunday's meeting at Stamford Bridge is crucial for both men – which prompted Solskjaer to reveal his ruthless streak.
He said: “You know if you are at Man United and you enjoy losing, you are at the wrong place.
“I don’t show my frustration maybe as much as Bruno (Fernandes), but I think maybe I am the worst loser.
“You probably haven't seen it - but some of the players have.
“For me, the main thing is that we had a very open honest discussion when I came in and I laid down my plans.
“The club, of course, made a decision - and agreed with me with some of the changes we had to make.
“I am not going to say that it will never happen that we change course.
“It is about results - and you need results and you need to see improvements.
“Hopefully we have proved to the club and to the fans what we want from the team and want from our players.”
Solskjaer's reward for knocking Tuchel's PSG out of the Champions League in March 2019 was a permanent contract and the chance to succeed where David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho had failed since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement almost eight years ago.
Tuchel got his revenge with a 3-1 win at Old Trafford in December that paved the way for United to go out at the group stages this season – but three weeks later he left the Parisian club.
Solskjaer said: “Thomas is one of these coaches who loves football, knows his football and has the team very well prepared for every game.
“We will have to prepare for all different scenarios.
“I don’t know Thomas personally but as managers we know we live by results.
“You have got to make some tough decisions because at the end of the day it’s down to the results - and that is down to the manager.”
