Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's training sessions accused of being "basic" and "lacking creativity"

Some of the Manchester United squad are reportedly growing tired of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's "basic" training sessions as pressure continues to grow on the under-fire manager.

Questions have been asked of Solskjaer's suitability for the role of United boss in recent times, and the calls for him to be replaced grew all the more loud following his side's 6-1 humbling against Tottenham at Old Trafford last weekend.

The Red Devils face a tricky-looking trip to Newcastle on Saturday, and if they fail to win at St James' Park the pressure will mount even more on Solskjaer.

He is still said to be a popular figure at the club, and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward does not have any plans to pull the trigger yet, and is convinced the team can still achieve success under Solskjaer.

But according to The Independent a player told one of his friends this week that Solskjaer's training is "so basic" and "lacking in creativity."

They also claim that a number of the most important members of the squad have questioned some of Solskjaer's tactics, and are worried that he still does not know his best team or how to fully take advantage of his attacking players.

Former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has allegedly been sounded out by United as Solskjaer's possible replacement if things continue to go badly on the pitch, and much may depend on their results in the coming weeks.

After the game against Newcastle it does not get any easier, with PSG, Chelsea, RB Leipzig and Arsenal United's next four opponents.

With Pochettino waiting in the wings, Solskjaer will be under illusions that he must start to pick up some positive results sooner rather than later, and it will be intriguing to see if he can pick his side up following the Spurs debacle.
