Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plan to fit transfer target Jack Grealish into Man Utd team

Manchester United are already planning which position long-term transfer target Jack Grealish will be deployed in ahead of a potential move this summer.

Aston Villa star Grealish is contracted until 2023, but is heavily linked with a £60m transfer to Old Trafford as the Birmingham club's future in the Premier League remains uncertain.

Villa are currently in the relegation zone and it remains to be seen if play will restart and they will be given the chance to haul themselves to safety.

As such, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is preparing to swoop for the 24-year-old and he has reportedly worked out which position he will utilise him in.

And Solskjaer has settled on an unconventional role for Grealish, with the attacking midfielder set to be deployed on the right wing, according to The Athletic via the Birmingham Mail.

Right wing is arguably the area which United need to improve most, with 22-year-old Daniel James one of the few options the Red Devils have there.

The other attacking positions are not up for grabs, with Bruno Fernandes starring in the no. 10 role since his January transfer and Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial forming a potent interchanging duo up front and on the left flank.

Though he is able to play this position, Grealish has not been used on the right flank by Villa boss Dean Smith this season. Instead, the former England U21 international has mainly featured as an inside forward on the left wing or in central midfield.

However, statistics experts Transfermarkt.com record that Grealish has played as a right winger 12 times and a right midfielder four times in his career, during which he contributed two goals and four assists.

He made one appearance as a right winger last season, during Villa's 1-1 draw with Bristol City in the Championship.

This campaign, Grealish has shone under the pressure of leading Villa in a relegation scrap, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in the Premier League.
