Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's message to Man Utd players ahead of top four run-in

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told his players to maintain their level of performance as they target the Champions League.

The Norwegian watched on as his Manchester United side conceded a 96th minute equaliser against Southampton on Monday night.

It meant they missed the chance to move above Leicester and Chelsea into third and instead remained fifth.

Manchester City's successful appeal against their UEFA ban means a fifth place finish will no longer be good enough to deliver Champions League football.

United have been the league's form side since the restart, winning four of their six games while setting records for their margin of victory.

And Solskjaer has urged his players to continue with that form if they want to finish in the top four.

“Keep on doing what we've been doing," he said on Monday night.

“Trust yourselves. You're at a club where it always boils down to the last couple of weeks of the season, we've done fantastic since we restarted and had a great run.”

United's final three games are against Crystal Palace, West Ham and Leicester on the road.

Their final game of the season could be a winner takes all clash at the King Power with the Red Devils in hot form - which is of stark contrast to the Foxes.

Chelsea seized the initiative on Tuesday night with a 1-0 win over Norwich at Stamford Bridge to climb to fifth.

The Blues face United in an FA Cup semi-final this weekend in what will be their fourth meeting of the season with Solskjaer's side winning the previous three.

United are also under increased pressure to deliver Champions League football as they face losing £25m of their £75m sponsorship deal with Adidas if they miss out.
