Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Edinson Cavani comments as it emerges he's "unhappy" and wants out

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is impressed with what Edinson Cavani has done in a Manchester United shirt this season - but could lose the striker in the summer because he is "unhappy" at Old Trafford.

Cavani joined the Red Devils on a £200,000-a-week deal in October after leaving Paris Saint Germain on a free.

Solskjaer is keen to trigger the 12-month option in the Uruguayan's contract to keep him at United next season.

But Cavani's dad Luis says his son is unhappy in England and wants to return to South America.

Solskjaer has said of the 34-year-old: "I can only say Edinson has done well.

"I've been impressed by him, he's really gelled in the group and we'll sit down and speak with him in the near future to see his plans and our plans.

"It's a good discussion to have. We always speak to the players and with his contract situation at the moment we're very pleased with what he's done."

Cavani's father suggested his son could leave United at the end of the season, and says he's already been in contact with Boca Juniors over a proposed move.

Luis told TyC Sports: "My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again.

"Edinson is going to end up playing in South America. I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.

"Edinson had many conversations with [Boca vice-president Juan Roman] Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca. He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca.

"If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca."

He added: "By the middle of the year he will return to South America. My son's idea is not to continue there, he wants to return."
