Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Donny van de Beek stance underlined by Man Utd transfer decision

Manchester United have no interest in selling Donny van de Beek and will reject any offers for the Dutchman.

The summer signing has endured a difficult first season at Old Trafford with chances at a premium.

Ajax, whom he left less than 12 months ago, are thought to be keen on bringing him back on loan.

United though have no interest in sanctioning his departure and will turn down any approaches for Van de Beek, reports the Sun.

The 24-year-old — who cost £40m - has played just 330 minutes in the Premier League as he struggles to cement a first team place.

Van de Beek plays a similar style to Bruno Fernandes so eyebrows were raised upon his arrival given the Portuguese's stature within the team.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has continued to defend his sporadic use of the Dutchman, even drawing similarities between himself and Van de Beek.

The United boss insists he must put the team first but is in no doubt he will become a vital player at Old Trafford.

“He reminds me a lot about myself, when I first came in, that he understands my difficulties and challenges,” said Solskjaer earlier this tear.

“I was the same with Sir Alex [Ferguson, former Man Utd head coach]. When he left me out I understood and I was happy for the team to win – and Donny is that type of guy.

“He knows he is important for us and knows he is going to play many games.”

The player has not made any noises about trying to force an exit despite his difficult campaign.

Solskjaer is aware that he won't be happy with his playing time but has praised Van de Beek's attitude.

“I wouldn’t say that Donny is happy,” he said previously. “Of course, he wants to play more, but he gets about his job in the right manner.

“We are doing well and have got players who are playing really well in his position.”
