Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals the advantage Arsenal, Chelsea & Spurs have in race for top four

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that his side's rivals have an advantage in the quest for a place in the top four.

The Red Devils currently lie in 6th place below Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea on 64 points - two behind the Gunners and the Blues and three behind Spurs.

United have a game in hand of Chelsea however and now only have the Premier League to focus on after they were knocked out of the Champions League by Barcelona.

The London trio all made their way into European semi-finals however, and will have to manage their squad carefully in the final weeks of the season.

Fulham offer update on Manchester United loanee Timothy Fosu-Mensah after injury against Everton

However, Solskjaer believes the energy generated for playing on the biggest stage will give all of those teams a boost and his side must simply focus on Everton, Manchester City and Chelsea.

The Manchester United boss said: "It'll probably give them a boost playing those games. That's what you want as a player.

"We would have loved a semi-final to play in but that's not the case so we just have to focus on the games we've got.

"These three games coming up they're our short-term focus. We shouldn't think about anything but having a great week ahead of us."

Maurizio Sarri hints at the 'wonderful' striker the Chelsea boss has been keeping his eye on

The former striker believes his players need to prove themselves and is trying to create that culture at Old Trafford.

He said: "Every day in training, every game when you’re playing there’s no hiding place and everyone can see what your level’s at.

"We’re working with fantastic staff to create this culture, players to take ownership of what’s happening here as well but the performances on the pitch will determine where they’re at in their careers if it’s short term or long term every single day and that’s what we spoke about at Barca. When you’re at big stadiums, you’ve got to step up, make good decisions and I’m looking forward to this period."
