Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals Manchester United transfer plans after Marcus Rashford injury

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United could sign a striker in the January transfer window following an injury to Marcus Rashford.

England international Rashford is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he suffered a double stress fracture in his back playing against Wolves in midweek.

The United top-scorer missed his side's trip to face Liverpool in the Premier League at the weekend and could now be out for at least six weeks after his latest injury setback.

His absence means United only have Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood available as recognised striking options at the club and Solskjaer admits a striker could join before the transfer deadline on 31 January.

"He's [Rashford] suffered a bad injury," Solskjaer admitted to Sky Sports.

"Yes [it's a double stress fracture]. It's not something that's happened before. We’ve had many injuries this season, it’s just an unfortunate situation we are in.

"It might be because the window is open, we might look at some short-term deals as well that could take us through until the summer.

"We don’t desperately need a striker, we are looking at numbers as well because we have had many injuries. If the right one is there and it fits for us we can buy. If there are loans available it might be possible. But, we’ve got players who are champing at the bit.”
