Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that Manchester United had to deal with their "brutal" 6-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur internally in order to turn their poor early season form around.
United have won three and drawn one of their four games since equalling their heaviest Premier League defeat at Old Trafford against Jose Mourinho's side on 4 October.
Solskjaer came under pressure following that result but has since inspired victories over Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig, while claiming a goalless draw with Chelsea.
The United manager admitted that the defeat to Tottenham had been difficult to swallow but he is delighted with how his players and the club has responded in the weeks since.
"Any result as brutal as the 6-1 would have to get a response. It has been dealt with internally," he said.
"We've tweaked a couple of things, we've got players fit. The manner of the defeat was not something we should ever have to be confronted with again. Then again, things happen in football these days.
"The response has been fantastic, that's what I'm concerned about. We wanted to finish that off and move forward."
United return to Premier League action this weekend, welcoming Mikel Arteta's Arsenal to Old Trafford.
New signing Alex Telles will not be available to Solskjaer after testing positive for coronavirus but the Norwegian has no other fresh injury concerns.
