Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals his wish for former Manchester United prodigy Ravel Morrison

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he hopes Ravel Morrison manages to get a chance in the Premier League with Sheffield United this season.

Former Manchester United midfielder Morrison signed for the Premier League new boys over the summer following a successful trial period with the club.

The 26-year-old rose to prominence in the youth team at Old Trafford but despite being highly regarded by the club never managed to breakthrough into the first-team.

Following spells in Italy, Mexico and Sweden, the English midfielder returned to English football again in the summer after being invited for training by Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder.

Morrison starred for Sheffield United in a friendly defeat to United earlier in the week, and speaking after the game Solskjaer backed the midfielder to resurrect his career this season.

“Ravel's a good lad and a good player,” Solskjaer told MUTV . “I just hope he is going to get fit so we can see him in the Premier League, because you could see glimpses in that game.

“He's always had that quality. The Sheffield United lads came in for lunch afterwards and there was a bit of bonding as well, if you like. We have got a good relationship with them as (our loanee keeper) Dean (Henderson) is working well for Chris too.”

United's victory against Sheffield United was their second behind-closed-doors fixture in recent weeks, and Solskjaer also explained why his side had been organising these matches.

Solskjaer added: “It's very important, especially in this period. To keep everyone bubbling along, we need games, we need game time, and we've had two very good games.

“We had Blackburn to visit just a few weeks ago, after the Milan game, and now Sheffield United.

“We appreciate them coming, we're grateful that they wanted to come and they were two good games. We've done well and the lads have had game time so they're ready when they are called upon.”
