Ole Gunnar Solskjaer responds to Paul Scholes Manchester United prediction

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he has no issue with Paul Scholes' claim that Manchester United will not challenge for the Premier League in the next two years.

United legend Scholes wrote United's title hopes off earlier this month and suggested that it will be at least another two seasons before the club can even think about winning the league again.

"I think you almost have to write United off for the next two years, this team, until Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has cleared everything he wants out, has four or five transfer windows," the 44-year-old told Premier League Productions.

"United are going to be behind Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.

"I think this is United at the minute, you have to be patient with the young players, but the experienced players have to step up."

The club have endured a difficult start to the new season and have won just one of their opening four matches under the Norwegian coach.

It already looks like United have an uphill task as they battle to secure Champions League qualification, and when quizzed, Solskjaer insisted he had no issue with the comments made by Scholes over the international break.

"Paul knows what it is to be a Man United player," Solskjaer said. "Looking at the difference between us and City and Liverpool last year you don't expect us to challenge straight away.

"But, he can see things are going in the right direction and we feel we're on the right track."
