Ole Gunnar Solskjaer responds to Man Utd transfer links with Raul Jimenez

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remained coy when asked about interest in Wolves striker Raul Jimenez, after Manchester United's FA Cup third round draw at Molineux.

United boss Solskjaer is keen to add to his attack, but missed out on first choice Erling Braut Haaland, who has joined Borussia Dortmund.

The Red Devils have now been linked with a January move for the Wolves No.9, who has scored 17 goals already this season.

Jimenez, 28, wouldn’t come cheap, having cost Wanderers a club record £32million when completing a permanent transfer from Benfica in the summer.

The Mexican hitman came off the bench during Saturday night’s stalemate, having initially been rested by Nuno Espirito Santo.

And he came close to firing home a dramatic late winner, smashing Sergio Romero’s post from an acute angle.

Quizzed about a possible move for Jimenez in his post-match press conference, Solskjaer said: “Another good player that we’re being linked with.

“It’s loads of players who are being linked with us.

“I thought he came on and did really well today. But I can’t comment on the speculation.”

With Anthony Martial out through illness, Marcus Rashford only a substitute and 18 year-old Mason Greenwood leading the line, United failed to manage a single shot on target in the Black Country.

Wolves would be loathe to lose Jimenez as they look to finish in the Premier League’s European spots, while they are also eyeing Europa League glory.

Solskjaer also again ruled out the prospect of a January exit for Paul Pogba, sidelined for the rest of the month after undergoing ankle surgery.

He said: "You won't see Paul go in January".
