Ole Gunnar Solskjaer responds to criticism from four former Manchester United teammates

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stopped short of questioning his former Manchester United teammates following their criticism of the club's lack of activity in the transfer market.

Gary Neville said it was 'appalling' United had not made more signings with days to go until Monday's deadline and Darren Fletcher suggested 'Ole has to look after himself as well, because he's going to be judged season on season'.

Patrice Evra uploaded a lengthy video where he questioned why the head of corporate development, Matt Judge, is tasked with negotiating transfers and Rio Ferdinand claimed the United squad has 'fundamental problems'.

Solskjaer played alongside all four players over the course of his 11-year career at Old Trafford and Evra briefly coached at United's Carrington training complex last year. Fletcher was lined up for a consultation role until United shelved plans to appoint a technical director, which Ferdinand was briefly linked with.

Neville has been the main co-commentator on Sky Sports for nine years and Ferdinand joined BT Sport's punditry team in 2015, while Fletcher and Evra have appeared on Sky this season.

"Well as I said here, we have players to get results," Solskjaer said. "Patrice, Rio, Gary, Fletch, they have always been welcome here to talk to me instead of... they are doing their jobs. It’s their jobs so we can allow them to do their jobs but we're all wanting Man United as high as possible.

"It’s my job so that's what I'm working with."
