Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly fears the sack at Manchester United after Newcastle United defeat

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly told his Manchester United players: "You're going to get me the sack," in the aftermath of their defeat to Newcastle.

The Magpies ran out 1-0 winners over the Red Devils on Sunday as Matty Longstaff capped his Premier League debut with a stunning winning goal.

It lifted Newcastle out of the relegation zone but it heaped the pressure on Solskjaer, who has failed to win any of his last 11 away games as Manchester United boss.

The Red Devils are just two points above the relegation zone and have made their worst start to the season since 1989.

And the Sun report the former Norwegian international forward now fears the sack and warned his players his fate could be sealed with a big defeat to Liverpool after the next international break.

Solskjaer branded Manchester United's performance at St James' Park as 'embarrassing' and despite a public vote of confidence from United supremo Ed Woodward, he now fears his future as Old Trafford boss could be in jeopardy.

Conversely, Newcastle's win relieved pressure on head coach Steve Bruce who had came in for heavy criticism on the back of a humiliating 5-0 defeat at Leicester the previous weekend.
