Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ready to make "tough decision" with goalkeeper selection in final

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists he will have to make some "tough calls" as he wrestles between which goalkeeper to start in the Europa League Final.

Manchester United will take on Villarreal in Gdansk looking to end a four-year wait for a trophy.

The importance of the game means Solskjaer will have little room for sentiment and one of his goalkeepers is going to be left disappointed.

David de Gea begun the season as Red Devils No 1 but in recent months has been replaced by Dean Henderson.

The English goalkeeper was used in the cup competitions during his time as De Gea's understudy, but the situation has now gone full circle.

De Gea has been the man starting in Europe whilst Henderson plays weekly in the Premier League.

There have been suggestions though that Henderson could be called upon on May 26 and Solskjaer knows he has to make a tough call.

He said: "It's always difficult. The human side is you want everyone to have the experience of a final, but you have to pick 11, make some tough decisions and to stand by them.

"We have two league games to finalise and decide what the 11 will be.

"I remember Sir Alex coming to my hotel room to explain why I didn't play a semi-final. But I still felt I had a contribution to make and all my players know they've had a role to play this season.

"We wouldn't be able to get results this season without the whole squad's contribution."

"I think there's loads of tough calls to make. It's a different scenario with the keepers to how it's been. Both have played around 30 games, so it's going to be a difficult call of course. But I'll have to make another couple of difficult calls as well."
