Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to Paul Pogba's Manchester United wonder goal vs Fulham

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Manchester United's coaches weren't surprised by Paul Pogba's stunning left-footed winner against Fulham, having seen his passing ability off both feet in midfield.

Pogba slammed home a magical goal on his weaker foot with 25 minutes to play at Craven Cottage, sealing a 2-1 win that took United back to the top of the Premier League table.

It was the second time he'd scored a second-half winner in the space of nine days, having also struck at Burnley last week, and Solskjaer described his latest cameo moment as a strike worthy of winning any game.

“A left-footed strike as well, Paul can do that. We’ve seen him switching the play in midfield with his right foot and left foot, but that was a perfect strike and fitting to win any game of football," Solskjaer told MUTV.

Captain Harry Maguire echoed those sentiments and backed Pogba to continue delivering the goods between now and the end of the season, having produced a superb run of form over the past month.

“Paul doesn’t have a weak foot," said Maguire. "We’ve seen now over the last month or so he’s starting to get his fitness, for Paul to come back in the team and do what he’s doing for us at the moment is great.

"He’s a big part of the dressing room, he’s a big player for us, we know that he can produce moments of brilliance and I hope he can carry on, I’m sure he can."

United went behind early on to Ademola Lookman's goal, but Edinson Cavani equalised in the first-half before Pogba's winner.

Solskjaer said the three points had made the draw at Anfield on Sunday a better result than it felt at the time and said the slog at Craven Cottage in miserable conditions is the type of game that can be crucial come the end of the campaign.

“They’re massive. When you count the points at the end of the season you look back at the tight games," he said. "It gives so much confidence and a morale boost to get three points instead of a draw."
